A small fern with a clear, rhythmic leaf pattern.
Form & character
The dark green blades are deeply divided, and the rhizome creeps rather than forming a single upright crown. The RHS describes it as an evergreen fern that can grow terrestrially or as an epiphyte.
A place to grow
Give it a well-drained site. It tolerates a range from sun to partial shade, and an established plant may cope with drier conditions. Water regularly in its first growing season.
A detail to notice
Follow the line of separate fronds with your eye. Their spacing tells a different story from the tightly grouped fronds of a tufted fern.
